About Yourself:
We are a small family living in a apartment that does not allow cats or dogs. Because we wanted some type of pet for our 5 year old son, Nolan, we decided fish were the best option. It has been a wonderful experience of education for the whole family, and we are now fish hobbyists.
Fish Kept:
It all started with our red Betta (Mr. Betta). Since then, we have added a Marigold Sword-tail (Dennis), a Dalmation Mollie (Molly), a Dwarf Gourami (Julius), a Chinese Sucker fish (Sally), 2) yellow Snails (Gary and Yoda) and a black Snail (un-named)
Corals/Plants:
We currently only have artificial plants, but to add live plants after getting more experience and education.
Tank Size:
10 gallons
Advice:
Do your homework, ESTABLISH YOUR TANK at least a week prior to introducing the fish. ADD ONLY ONE AND TWO FISH AT A TIME. Adding too many fish at the same time can make the ammonia levels skyrocket in the tank, thus killing the fish!

About Yourself:
I've had a tanks since childhood. Never a planted tank though. I am learning a lot and enjoying it so much. Our dinning room gets much more use now that we have a tank in it. My previous tanks always had aggressive fish in them. This tank is so peaceful and i enjoy it more. No more scared weak fish in the corner looking for a way out!
Fish Kept:
6 lemon tetras, 1 pearl gourami, 1 flying fox, 1 bristle nose pleco, 5 amano shrimp
Corals/Plants:
water sprite, anubias, hygro, micro sword, vals, crinum x large.
Tank Size:
26 gallons
Advice:
If you choose a small tank get a bow front. Makes everything inside seem larger. If you want live plants do some research first. Get the substrate right you cannot change this easily.

About Yourself:
I'm a 22 year old undergrad senior at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Psychology.
My parents always kept fish so they were just always around and I took them for granted. One day last year I decided to get a betta and well things just took off from there. Now I've got a 75 gallon.
Fish Kept:
So far-
9 rummy nose tetras,
5 corys,
3 glass catfish,
2 golden gouramis (male and female),
2 kribensis cichlids (male and female),
1 albino pleco,
So far everyone is getting along!
Corals/Plants:
I honestly don't know what plants I ended up picking up but I've got about 8 or so young plants that will hopefully grow bigger soon.
I've got a small piece of driftwood with a plant growing out of it. I plan on getting a couple more larger pieces of driftwood.
I've got two rock caves built with other river rocks scattered around. Nice natural gravel lining the bottom.
Tank Size:
75 gallons
Advice:
Be prepared to spend money...a lot of money. The cheapest is not always the best. But 10 mins of watching your fish tank is worth every penny.
I look at a fish tank as playing god in a sense, you're creating and maintaining an entire closed loop eco-system. Seeing your fish happy is an indicator of your skill and passion for fishkeeping.
Oh and never buy rocks, that's just crazy.
