OVER FILTRATION IS KEY!
About Yourself:
I've been living in California most of my life until December 2007 I moved out to Arizona with my fiance. Currently working with ACE HARDWARE Retail Support Center. If you've ever been to any ace hardware stores and bought something, i'm the guy who packaged it haha. I've been keeping goldfish since I was 14 and they got boring and then I looked into cichlids which were amazing! The color and the agressiveness and there puppy like attitudes. First just came the fish and then I started getting into it and want to decorate the crap out of the tank. I shoulda got a bigger tank than 90 gallon. It seems real small to me now.
Fish Kept:
Flowerhorn, 2x Green Terror, 2x Convict, Jack Dempsey, Firemouth, Red Terror, Black Ghost Knife, 2x Synodontis(forgot their names), Bristlenose Pleco and Clown Pleco.
Corals/Plants:
Amazon swords, kyoto grass, forgot the other one. Using sand substrate (black tahitian moon), right now supplementing plants with iron. No co2, natural light, making sure plenty of oxygen. The swords are sprouting new swords.
Tank Size:
90 gallons
Advice:
OVER FILTRATION IS KEY! 10x the tank volume. Cycle Cyle Cycle. Always test water parameters to insure overall tank health. Observe your fish at least 30 min to an hour a day :). I preferably feed them one pinch at a time 2x daily for 3-4 min making sure everything is consumed. Always choose water changes over medication unless all else fails.

Advice:
Research fish before purchasing as far as water conditions and temperment so you know what other species you can add. Make sure you set up SLOW and get what you want. Begining with the substrate, plants/driftwood, decor, etc. Also, monitor those water conditions in a fresh tank setup if you add fish right away. Other than that this is my first aquarium and I could not be happier (unless I get that 60 gal I want now...)

About Yourself:
I started with small tanks and recently worked up to a big one, like i described earlier.
Fish Kept:
as of june 5th...
3 clown loaches
3 panda corydoras
2 pleckos
6 rummy nose tetras
various guppies and other tetras
angelfish
3 african dwarf frogs
a catfish which has a really long name that i cant remember.....
Corals/Plants:
Echinodorus bleheri (paniculatus)
Ceratopteris thalictroides
Various other unknown plants :S
Tank Size:
75 gallons
Advice:
Start with simple fish, i suggest guppies. Give your aquarium time to develop, and always remember to keep your water changed and clear of contaminants...and DO NOT paint your aquarium trim with spraypaint!! ;) If your unsure, find a cheap tank at a garage sale etc and try it out, see if you like it then if your serious buy an expensive one!
