Most of us ask for advice when we know the answer but we want a different one.
About Yourself:
I have five tanks - one of which is at work and is used to help calm upset kids. It also allows me relaxation moments as I look up to view my fish.
Fish Kept:
Mostly Malawi Cichlids with a few river fish thrown in. Yoyo loach does quite well - almost too aggressive when cichlids were young.
Corals/Plants:
All decorative plants
Tank Size:
110 gallons
Advice:
Check compatibility before you buy fish. Do your water changes so you won't have to wake up and find floating fish. And have fun with the hobby.
Also, visit local nurseries for landscape rock. Much cheaper than specialty stores. Just clean before adding to tank.
Description:
110 Gal tank sits in my living room. I got it for a steal on Criagslist. It is 5' long and the highlight of my room. I have both a blue and white light but typically only have the white on.

About Yourself:
First and foremost I'm a dedicated believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Beyond that I'm a Construction Worker by day and a Web Designer by night. After a long day of hard labor there is nothing more relaxing than planting myself in front of my aquarium and shedding the stress of the day.
Fish Kept:
I have 3 different varieties of Peacock Cichlids - 1 Red Zebra Cichlid - 1 Electric Blue Cichlid - 1 Green Terror Cichlid - 1 Electric Yellow Cichlid - 1 Big Lipped Cichlid - one Albino Cichlid and 3 Cichlids whos species origin is yet to be identified.
I also have one Dinosaur Birch who my Cichlids seem to leave alone and two very small plecostomus but one of them I'm growing for another tank tht is still cycling.
Corals/Plants:
A variety of different artificial plants.
I plan to gradually replace all of my artificial plants with live ones but seen as how this tank is only a few months old I havent gotton to that point yet.
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
My advice to any beginner is to start small and aim big. A larger size tank can be quite a commitment. If a beginner jumps right into a larger size tank they can easily find themselves overwhelmed by the time and effort it takes to maintain a good healty environment for their fish to thrive.
Don't sweat loosing fish, it happens to all of us no matter what the experience level.
Most importantly have fun. It's just a hobby, if it gets too serious it's time to get out.
