Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
About Yourself:
I bought my first 5 gal tank 30 years ago. All my fish died because I wasn't told about the bactierial cycle. After going 20 years without a tank I decided to do it up good!
Fish Kept:
5 red irian rainbows,
5 red line torpedo barbs,
3 white cloud moutain minnows,
6 jumbo neons,
5 pearl gourami,
5 clown loaches,
3 panda garra,
3 panda corydoras,
7 silver hatchets,
2 silver angels,
Corals/Plants:
The plants are all plastic but the cool brown & green algae on the background is real.
Tank Size:
168 gallons
Advice:
Get the biggest tank you can buy. Don't clean your filter too much. Enjoy your fish - study about them and where they are from. If you can't afford good stuff - save your money until you can.
Description:
The best algae eaters ever! Panda Garras never stop, even at night. They don't hang in the same place on the glass all day like plecos. Plus they will never outgrow your tank.

About Yourself:
I'm a college grade looking for a teaching job who works to pay the bills. I've been doing the fish thing for about 3 1/2 years now and I love it and will never stop this hobby.
Fish Kept:
4 inch silver arowana,1-7 inch Pleco, crayfish, bumblebee catfish, firemouth, and 2 angel fish that I'm caring for while my sis gets her new tank cuz her other one broke. All fish are small and will be moved to my 125 when bigger. Ive kept every fish possible so if ya need help let me know...
Corals/Plants:
Plastic plants
Tank Size:
75 gallons
Advice:
Know what you want when it comes to fish. The bigger they get the more its going to cost as far as the size tank, filtration, and food. I did that and got tired of it. Start slow so you dont get yourself in trouble. Enjoy every second you get to watch your fish.

About Yourself:
I've been in the hobby for over 20 years. My grandfather gave me my first tank as a pre-teen, and i've been hooked ever since. I would love to have giant tanks everywhere, if I could. My love for the Angelfish has grown over the years, and I say, why not always have angels in the house?
Fish Kept:
Top Bunch: 7 Angelfish, 1 Gold Gourami, 1 Opaline Gourami, 2 White Cloud Minnows, and 8 Serpae Tetras,
Ground Crew: 3 Clown Loaches, 2 Spotted Rafael Catfish, 1 Bumlbebee Catfish, 1 Red-tailed Shark and 1 Pleco
Corals/Plants:
Tetra Water Wonder Artificial Plants with resin rock base. And a few cheaper plastic plants. The yellow flowers around the right piece of wood are now algae covered and the same happend to the orange flowers behind the left driftwood. Time to get in there and clean them up I guess.
Tank Size:
65 gallons
Advice:
Read about the species before you buy. When stocking a community tank, peaceful fish go in first and the most aggressive species should go in last.

DOnt have 1 specific favorite I can think of right now but there are many which inspire me.
About Yourself:
I am in the processes of learning a little bit about freshwater fish and how to maintain an aquarium. I am learning through my boyfriend who enjoys the hobby very much. I managed to save the life of our Tiger Oscar who we almost lost due to FTS
( Fresh Water Tank Syndrome) I experienced having to rapidly change half of the water in a 150 gallon tank. Our Oscar's life depended on me acting as quiclkly as possible. I hope to learn more about freshwater fish because I really enjoy their company. I can't believe how attached I've become to the one's we already have and miss the one's we have lost.
Fish Kept:
1 Albino Oscar approx. 9 months old & 1 Tiger Oscar approx. 2 years old.
Corals/Plants:
Tried having them but my Oscar's always manage to destroy them.
Tank Size:
150 gallons
Advice:
Don't forget to do frequent water changes also before adding fish to a new tank make sure you allow your tank to cycle before adding any fish. I'm a new hobbyist myself.

Advice:
I am brand new but have actually spent the past year studying. The thing I keep hearing from every aquarist I talk to is start easy and don't overfeed.
Now that we are several months into it, the next piece of advice I kind of learned the hard way is to take your time cycling your tank. Find a good, local fish store (not Petco or Walmart) and do exactly what they say to cycle your tank. Also, buy cheap fish like we did to start so when (not if) a couple die, it won't hurt much.
