Description:
My 90 gallon has been running for roughly a month now. I've had so much fun with it! It is 4 feet long by 2 feet high by 1.5 feet wide, plus the base. I'm running a Marineland 350 Canister Filter underneath the tank, and a Marineland Biowheel hang-on-the-back tank filter. My light is a Coralife ultra thin fluorescent setup. I have sand substrate, which is more difficult to keep clean looking, but is 10x more aesthetically pleasing when combined with the driftwood, flowerpot, and fake plant setup.
Advice:
Establish your tank first, and buy from reputable aquatic stores! Make sure to let your tank run for a couple days to clean out the tank, and make sure everything is functioning (I didn't with my very first tank, and the filter broke a day later, while fish were already in the tank!). Find a fish store (not a pet store) where the people are willing to help you readily (and not afraid to send you elsewhere to find the proper materials). It will save a lot of heartache.
Fish Kept:
I currently have in my large tank an Oscar (5"), a Jack Dempsey (3"), a common Pleco (3"), and a Blue Gourami (3.5"). In my smaller tank, I have 4 Serpae Tetras, 5 Glow Light Tetras, 1 Asian Upside Down Catfish (2.5"), 1 Common Pleco (only 2"), and a Sunset Dwarf Gourami (2"). I'm hoping to get into much more creative areas of fish keeping though.
Corals/Plants:
None so far, but I'm hoping eventually!

About Yourself:
I'm relatively new to the hobby. After a little rough patch in my schooling, I decided it would be fun to focus myself in an area that I had not tried before. Someone suggested fish keeping, and sure enough, I'm getting into it whole heartedly. I have a 10 gallon (about to be upgraded to a much larger size for a community tank), and a 90 gallon tank (both freshwater tropical).
I'm currently an 8th semester student at the University of Connecticut studying Music Education and German, hoping to be a music teacher in a public schooling system. On the side, I am a private violin instructor for beginner and intermediate level students.
