Thanks Carlos & ThisFish88! :) The grade of cement I use is certified safe for ponds and drinking water storage. I submersed it in a strong vinegar and water solution for a week to blance out the alkalinity and harden the exterior. There is a slight ph change between weekly water changes but it's never gone higher than 8.0. I feed a homemade mixture of shrimp with various vegetables, supplement with koi pellets and bloodworm. The upside down cat likes the whole chunks of cucumber i feed them every 3 to 4 days and also snaps up the bloodworm that makes it to his corner of the tank. fish avatar
very cool tanks , you obviously have a knack for tank design , i always thought that the chemicals in cement were harmfull like lime or whatever it is, i might have ago myself, expanding foam is good for making tree roots. carl fish avatar
AWESOME aquarium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also have an upside down cat in my Malawi tank.I was curious if yours had problems adjusting to the ph? mine didnt, but they are s americans also what do you feed yours to allow it to compete with the cichlids? my cichlids are such aggressive eaters, so much that the cat only comes out for frozen bloodworms. fish avatar
