Description:
I have a fresh water tank that I take care of like the fish are my babies. It is 90 gallons, partially planted, adorned with locally harvested rocks, and sandstone figures. There is artificial seaweed at both ends of the aquarium. They are placed there strategically to give the bala sharks depth perception when they are active, and darting around the tank. It seems to be working well, as I have had no incidents of one of the bala sharks smashing into the glass. Once a week, I swap out thirty gallons, treated with Seachem Prime, and vacuum one side of the aquarium. The following week, I will vacuum the other side. The balas love the clean water. Like I said before, as I am retired, my aquarium is my favourite hobby, and am continuously thinking of ways to improve the aquascape. It runs on a Fluval 407 canister, and have a Fluval Smart light, which simulates dawn and dusk.
Advice:
Never skip water changes. It is crucial to fish health. Skipping this procedure will allow toxic constituents to build up, eventually making your fish unhealthy, and can cause fatalities as a result. I advise getting a water changing mechanism that you can purchase at your local fish store, or Amazon. These devices tap into a faucet, or shower head, and saves bags of time.
