I have recently swap tank from 3 tanks (3x1.5x1.5(bought used), 2x1x1.5, 40cm x 27cm x 30cm) to a brand new 2 tanks setup (4x2x2, 3x1.5x1.5) while reposition the tank location in my living room. Previously I have pump filter and sponge filter in all my tanks but now i reduce to only keep pump filter without any sponge filter. But i have added a UVC submersible filter pump for my 4x2x2 tank to counter the hazy water/algae issue. I also keep my 4x2x2 tank without substrate for easier maintenance.
Advice:
Research the fishes you like to keep after browsing at local fish store before you decide on the size of tank to buy and the max budget and space you able to afford. This will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Silver Arowana, Blood Parrot, Red Striped Eartheater, Upside Down Cat, Black Ghost Knife Fish, Common Pleco, Convict Cichlid

Slowly upgrade to 40cm 10 gallon tank after added in more fishes. After that add another 2ft 20 gallon tank. After not long added an used 3ft 50 gallon tank.
