I do very little to this tank when it comes to maintenance. I top up as necessary, feed the fish as necessary and clean the filter as necessary.

Advice:
To avoid going backwards and buying what you don't need PLAN ahead.
In the beginning all you need is a tank, correct substrate and depth depending on plants chosen, filter,
ph, ammonia, nirite, and nitrate test kits, a heater, thermometer, and not much else til later.
Start by just running your tank for a week or two adding a small bit of fish food or just use Cycle, then check ammonia and nitrite, if levels are good start planting if not add a bit of cycle and wait another week or until ammonia and nitrite fall to safe levels, at which time you buy your lighting, if your planting it wont hurt to go a few weeks without adding C02 and longer for ferts letting your plants take root and establish. Check ammonia/nirite again. THEN slowly add your fish which saves more money starting to get my idea?? Then use all your saved money to buy bulbs food driftwood. Take small watchful steps and you will avoid the problems I went through by not doing any of the above things I typed lol!
