About Yourself: I wanted to keep a tropical aquarium every since I was 5 years old when I won a goldfish at the fair. When I bought my house last year, I was finally able to do that and got the biggest tank I could afford. My time and effort has really paid off and the aquarium is doing great.
Fish Kept: Platys, Neon Tetra, Cory Catfish, Guppies, Ottos and Danios
Corals/Plants: Various plants.
Tank Size: 39 gallons
Advice: I found pond snails to start with to be a terrible eye sore in the tank and they bred very quickly. They got into the tank through the plants i bought. No amount of picking them out would dent their numbers. I got five assassin snails and within a week they wiped the pond snails out. My advice is that assassin snails look great in a tank and keep unwanted snails under control.

Fish Kept: african cichlids are the "smartest fish"-[quote from animal planet's-mutant planet] and right away you will know why... beautiful, smart, and thousands of varieties make them a favorite to keep and breed. do yourself a favor and check them out sooner or later... you will be glad you did.
Corals/Plants: lower light varieties anubias java fern moss ball amazon sword baby tears
Tank Size: 55 gallons
Advice: learn as much as you can before you commit...care for all the fish's needs and their environment keep only compatable species together- sometimes it is trial and error...doesnt hurt to start small and work as you go, you will alwzays want to try new things and upgrade anyway...filtration and water changes are critical. feed a variety of foods not just flake or pellets. quarentine new fish. spend time watching so you know whats going on, if something changed ,or for the enjoyment... work up to that saltwater tank you are dreaming about...its alot more than just adding marine salt!

Quote: I feel like a duck, everywhere i look theres a bloody big bill infront of me!
About Yourself: dad bought a tank (H:2ft W:40cm L:39cm) when i was born. 21 yrs later i had a kid so i restored it. figured the colours and movement would be good for her. 3 yrs later,im still loving it and have set a lifetime goal to having bred all species of freshwater fish and breed some unyet bred marines (but thats a long time away)
Fish Kept: 6x discus (2x white swanns, 1x hi fin hi body blue diamond 1x mixed breed 1x red melon 1x red malborough) 2x corydoras julii 1x upside down catfish
Corals/Plants: amazon swords, anubias, blue stricta
Tank Size: 50 gallons
Advice: dont just buy from a shop cause its cheap. normally cheap shops dont normally invest as much time as a specialist does maintaining thier tanks.....some do butttttttttttt most dont. specialists will normally let you test thier water if you ask, heck most will do it for you and give you the restults. buy from shops where the tanks are maintained daily and buy the healthiest looking fish, and if they all look crap.....kepp looking elsewhere.
