Advice:
keep it simple, keep it clean, and keep it under-populated. a busy tank is fun to watch, but only when your not elbow deep vacuuming it due to the additional waste. if you set it up right you can maintain a wonderful balance and only clean the tank filter once every several months, and rarely need to clean the gravel.

About Yourself:
I started a tank about 2007 but it was a fail, since then i think it has been seeing other peoples tanks that has gotten me back into it!!
Fish Kept:
I have Firemouth cichlids, Geo cichlids, 2 Catfish, and a few loaches
Corals/Plants:
I have a wide range of plant, from very long thick leaved plants, to very fine shrub like plant inbedded in my wood
Tank Size:

Advice:
plan out your tank a lot before hand, many people just buy random fish, i and many others find to be a better experience if you do 1 or 2 species in a tank.

About Yourself:
dad bought a tank (H:2ft W:40cm L:39cm) when i was born. 21 yrs later i had a kid so i restored it. figured the colours and movement would be good for her. 3 yrs later,im still loving it and have set a lifetime goal to having bred all species of freshwater fish and breed some unyet bred marines (but thats a long time away)
Fish Kept:
6x discus (2x white swanns, 1x hi fin hi body blue diamond 1x mixed breed 1x red melon 1x red malborough)
2x corydoras julii
1x upside down catfish
Corals/Plants:
amazon swords, anubias, blue stricta
Tank Size:
50 gallons
Advice:
dont just buy from a shop cause its cheap. normally cheap shops dont normally invest as much time as a specialist does maintaining thier tanks.....some do butttttttttttt most dont. specialists will normally let you test thier water if you ask, heck most will do it for you and give you the restults. buy from shops where the tanks are maintained daily and buy the healthiest looking fish, and if they all look crap.....kepp looking elsewhere.
